Paul Durieu created Domaine Durieu in 1976. Located in the heart of the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, across the road from the old St Theodoric's Chapel. This historic building has known a few owners, who have always kept its authenticity. Originally built by Senozan's Marchioness, in 1615, then granted to Jean Le Power, an Irish nobleman in the wine trade; then become a barrel workshop.

At that time, Paul started with some plots in Plan de Dieu and Côtes du Rhône, inherited from his father Henri. As well as some Châteauneuf-du-Pape vines, some of which pre-date the First World War, inherited from his mother, Lucile Avril. This famous winemaking family was part of the aristocracy of La Treilhe

After that, Paul gradually started the development of Domaine Durieu and planted his own first 5 hectares of Grenache in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Little by little, the vineyards are expanding across the Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Plan de Dieu, Côtes du Rhône, and Ventoux appellations, allowing the winery to offer a diversified range of wines. Since 2004, the brother's Vincent and François have taken over Paul, taking into account quality aspects and both terroir and environmental conservation. They brought a new dynamism to the winery, which now represents 37 hectares of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Fully committed to their land, the brother's priority is to create wines that reflect a balanced patchwork of their terroir, intrinsic grape aromas, and freshness.
