Baga

The Baga is a Portuguese grape that produces deep red wines, with a lot of tannins and a spicy acidity. Not wine for beginners. After about ten years - or even longer - the firm tannins have broken down and the wine is ready to drink. The Portuguese Baga grape comes from the Bairrada wine region, near the Atlantic coast near the city of Porto.

What does wine from the Baga grape taste like?

The Baga grape produces wines with powerful tannins and high acidity, which are best aged in the bottle for about 12 years. After this period, when the wines are aged, the Baga produces much softer, elegant, complex red wines with great elegance.
