The Quinta da Valeira is a port which comes from the region of S. Joao de Pesqueira. The Grapes were deseeded completely and slowly fermented with temperature control to 25 °C. Gently filtered before bottling. This Tawny port is a blend of Touriga Franca (25%), Sousão (25%), Tinta Barroca (20%), Touriga Nacional (5%), Tinto Cão (5%), Divers (20%)

In the glass, the Quinta da Valeira Tawny has the typical amber-brown color. In the nose we smell aromas of sweet jam and plum scents mingling with hazelnut and dried fig notes. In the mouth, the sweetness and acidity are nicely balanced and linger in a long and satisfying finish. This Tawny Port is bottled ready for consumption. Store in the refrigerator after opening and enjoy within a month or two for best flavor.

From Quinta da Valeira, perched high above the eastern end of the Douro River, come vibrant and fresh-tasting wines that express the airy freshness, elegance and beauty of the quinta.

Located between 400 and 500 meters above sea level, Valeira catches every passing breeze, making it cooler than many vineyards in this hot eastern end of the Douro Valley. The slate soil is a winemaker's dream, allowing rain to penetrate deep into the hillside to water the roots of our vines, but retaining the sunny warmth of the day well into the evening to create a more temperate and mellow microclimate to allow our grapes to ripen to perfection.

Quinta da Valeira is a biologically diverse and beautiful landscape, with almost 10 hectares of mature vines on 27 hectares of land. Just over half of the vineyard is planted with Touriga Nacional. Arguably the best of the Port grape varieties, Touriga Nacional is deeply aromatic and complex, with intense flavors that can range from fruity to floral to mineral, depending on the conditions. Of course, there are high tannin levels and good acidity that form the basis for a balanced and long-lived Ports.

The rest of the vineyard is divided into three more classic Port grapes. Touriga Franca brings extra complexity to our wines, with red fruits and exotic floral notes, as well as good acidity. Tinta Francisca adds a vibrant freshness to blends, and Sousão is known for its complex earthy flavors, acidity, and intense color. To complete our range of Ports, we use white grapes and organic red grapes from neighbouring Quinta da Trovisca, which shares the height and fluffiness of Valeira.
