Description
When it comes to Value for Money, Domaine Dusseau is hard to beat. Especially the Reserve series (Barrel Aged) produces great wines for a very nice price. Located in the South of France, Domaine Dusseau has vineyards spread over different areas in the Pays D'Oc, each with its own climate. The majority of the grapes are destined for bulk wines, but a limited portion and then the best fruit is destined for own bottling where quality is the starting point.
The large area of its own vineyards allows Domaine Dusseau to always select the best grapes from the best plots for the wines under its own label.
The vineyards of Domaine Dusseau around Limoux are located in three climatically distinct regions:
- West of Limoux the 'Terroir Océanique' with wines where the acids dominate.
- To the northeast the 'Terroir Méditerranéen' with full-bodied wines.
- To the south is the 'Terroir Haute Vallée' where the wines clearly have more minerality.
This variation of terroirs allows a consistent quality to be pursued by adapting the ratio in each blend to the characteristics of the harvest year. In fresh years, the percentage of 'Méditerranéen' can be increased and in warm years, more freshness can be brought into the wine by increasing the share of 'Océanique'. The grapes for the Dusseau Reserve Barrel Aged Chardonnay are pressed in a pneumatic press after picking, the vinification takes place in steel vats under full temperature control and contact with the skins. This Réserve Chardonnay is aged in French oak for 9 months. This Reserve Chardonnay has a beautiful golden yellow colour with hints of citrus fruits and vanilla in the nose. Rich and filmy in the mouth ripe apricot, citrus fruits and vanilla with a creamy finish.
