Description
Château de Chantegrive, located in Graves, is not yet old, certainly not by Bordeaux standards. The château was founded in 1966 and was founded by Henri & Françoise Lévêque. They were able to realize their dream thanks to the sale of their valuable stamp collection. This is how it can also go in Bordeaux.
The 2020 Château de Chantegrive Cuvee Caroline is a blend of 40% Sémillon and 60% Sauvignon Blanc. The white Graves has a fragrant nose of orange blossom, pears, green apples and lime leaves with hints of lemongrass and coriander seeds. Light to medium-bodied, the taste is subtly styled and refreshing with a mineral/chalky aftertaste.
"The 2020 Cuvee Caroline leaps from the glass with notes of lemon drops, fresh grapefruit and lime cordial, plus wafts of yuzu and honeysuckle. Medium-bodied, the palate has a seriously racy backbone cutting through the intense citrus and savory layers, finishing with great length and a skip in its step." 90-92 Robert Parker
"Aromas of sliced apples and lime zest with citrus blossom and crushed stones. Polished and round-textured on the palate with a full body and tangy acidity. Creamy finish. 60% sauvignon blanc and 40% semillon. Drink or hold." -James Suckling 93/100
"The 2020 Cuvée Caroline is rich, ample and creamy. Vinification in barrel, with lees stirring, brings out gorgeous texture. This is one of the better vintages I can remember tasting. Lime confit, apricot, white flowers and a kick of spice build into the resonant finish." Vinous 92/100

The 2022 Cuvée Caroline is a textured creamy white. Orchard fruit, white pepper, flowers and a kiss of new French oak all grace this soft, open-knit dry white.

Château de Chantegrive, located in Graves, is not old, certainly not by Bordeaux standards. If you like fairy tales, you will definitely love this one. The story begins in 1966 when Henri & Françoise Lévêque decided to create what would later become the Chateau de Chantegrive!. They were really convinced of the potential of the Graves "terroir" They were able to realize their dream thanks to the sale of their precious stamp collection to acquire their first 2 HA. So it can also go in Bordeaux.
to acquire their first two hectares. What happened next is a success story, the result of hard work and focused on the future and the new technologies combined with the unconditional need to be mainly present between the vines. Together, Françoise & Henri formed a very dynamic duo, a solid visionary team and above all: a couple of passionate wine lovers. 48 years later and 96 hectares further, the new generation of children has taken over the chateau de Chantegrive. The five children now manage it with their mother and Marie Hélène Lévêque continues the work of her parents with a dynamic passion. Since 2006, they have been working with Hubert de Boüard, owner of Château Angélus, who advises the team on vinification.
