Admired for its delicacy, its juice and its bouquet, Volnay has always been considered the most feminine Burgundy wine. Although some of its terroirs modify this judgment with more powerful and muscular versions, it really stands out among the reds of the Côte de Beaune like the lipstick mark of a kiss... Its color ranges from bright ruby to light garnet. The aromas are of violets, gooseberries, cherries and - with age - herbs, game and cooked plums. It has an instant appeal that, added to a slight natural precociousness, means it can be fully open while still relatively young. The attack is fresh, the aftertaste warm.
