Robertson is an important wine region in South Africa and is one of the most important wine producing areas in South Africa. Located in the Western Cape (more specifically the Breede River Valley), Robertson is known for producing rich and intense wines. The area is one of the hottest wine producing regions in the Western Cape, allowing the grapes to develop concentration and depth.

The Robertson area is scorching and dry and would otherwise be considered too hot for wine production. However, the cooling and wine making opportunity comes from the sea breeze, as the region is only 60 miles from the ocean. The cooling effect of the ocean ensures that the grapes retain a balanced amount of acid and prevent over-ripening.

When it comes to the soil, the area is rich in a wide variety of soil types. Thanks to this assortment, the area can successfully and uniquely grow an extensive range of grape varieties. Most of the wines produced here are fruit-driven and rich with considerable body and texture. In addition, there are also other robust varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, which can also be seen in Robertson.
