Lison Pramaggiore DOC covers the areas of most of the municipalities in Eastern Veneto, extending from land close to the sea to the border with Friuli. The area was already used to produce wine in ancient Roman times and was highly developed under the Venetian Republic. The soil is particularly rich in calcium and calcareous clay, ideal for wine with a rich taste. The Lison-Pramaggiore DOC is known for growing the most important international varieties — from Pinot Gris to Cabernet — and to the native varieties also found in nearby Friuli, such as Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso and Verduzzo.
