Kracher - Giannikos Winery

Kracher is the reference when it comes to superlative dessert wines from Austria. Kracher makes a very wide range of dessert wines in Burgenland, including at the Neusiedlersee where spectacular botrytis wines can be made. For three generations, the Kracher family has been producing unique wines, recognized by the greatest international critics.

The British magazine "Wine" has voted Kracher "Sweet Winemaker of the Year" nine times and the German magazine Feinschmecker has also voted him "Winemaker of the Year" in 2017. Kracher is the first Austrian wine on the "Place de Bordeaux"

In Illmitz, in eastern Austria, Kracher enjoys the special microclimate of Lake Neusiedl, which almost every year provides ideal conditions for the creation of noble rot. The Krachers know how to do magic with this like no other: their wines have a fantastic balance between sweet and sour, making them incredibly concentrated as well as beautifully light-footed and sparkling. Kracher wants to make drinkable wines that can be used gastronomically. Gerhard succeeds well in this, just as he succeeds every year - despite the high degree of noble rot - in allowing the character of the grape variety to still shine through beautifully recognizable in his wines. Kracher makes two varieties of wine at Trockenbeerenauslese. The noble sweet wines with the designation 'Zwischen den Seeen' are fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks or large casks. The wines with the addition of 'Nouvelle Vague' mature exclusively in new barriques. The Weinlaubenhof Kracher is world famous and their top examples can compete with the most beautiful sweet wines from all over the world, such as those from Chateau d'Yquem, wine estate Robert Weil and Egon Müller Scharzhofberg. Kracher has won countless prizes and medals with their wines and has been named 'Late Harvest winemaker of the Year' many times by authoritative magazines and institutions.

Kracher - Giannikos Winery
