Giannikos Winery - Quinta da Romaneira

Quinta da Romaneira is a spacious 400 acre Single Estate port houses in the Alto Douro, near idyllic Pinhâo, world-famous for its beautiful UNESCO World Heritage awarded views and terraced vineyards. Quinta da Romaneira has always kept its business operations in-house. And that is not surprising, since the vineyards are located on the very best terroirs. The ports of Romaneira can compete with the best in the region.

Besides being one of the most beautiful wine regions in Europe, the Douro is one of the oldest wine regions with an official designation of origin. The history of Romaneira goes back to 1757, when vines were already planted on the domain. Romaneira's port wines first appear in the books around 1843 and in 1972 the 1861 and 1863 vintages are auctioned for the first time by the London auction house Christie's.

With a history of more than 260 years, Romaneira has managed to establish itself as a Single Estate between the major trading houses. The current winemaker is António Agrellos, who initially gained his experience in Bordeaux and has been named the best winemaker in Portugal in the category of 'fortified wines' several times.

The list of awards is absolutely incredible.
