Giannikos Winery - Monogram

Monogram winery is part of Castel Faglia, and is located in the Italian town of Calino di Cazzago San Martino. Franciacorta DOCG is located in the middle of Lombardy (Northern Italy) in the province of Brescia. The area includes 17 hectares of vineyards topped with Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco and a small amount of Pinot Nero grapes. On the grounds of Monogram is a castle (hence the name Castel Faglia) which is located at the highest point of all Franciacorta, making it very favorable from the sun. Thanks to the rocky soil and the microclimate, this area has unparalleled properties, resulting in a very unique grape. The area has a continental climate, which is interspersed with a mild Mediterranean climate, resulting in temperature increases that often cause heavy hailstorms in the summer. Furthermore, the grapes grow here, as one of the few in this region, on terrace vineyards. Monogram is well known in Italy for the fresh wines that this beautiful winery makes, and also for the fact that only white grape varieties are used.

The estate has been owned by the Cavicchioli family, winegrowers and producers of award-winning and well-known wines since 1928. The cellar is surrounded by forests and vineyards and built under a hill to reduce its environmental and energy impact. The underground section where the bottles are kept for many years of aging guarantees the best low temperatures in summer and avoids temperature fluctuations in every season.
