Due to its location directly on the Gironde, Château Beychevelle has a microclimate that is perfect for a dry and hot harvest year like 2022! In the vineyards, we find a relatively high proportion of Merlot in the vineyards: these are sticks of more than 50 years old that provide excellent fruit. Recent investments have brought Beychevelle back to the top. In 2015, the château started with 'optical sorting': the hand-picked grapes are sorted by a machine, based on the specifications of perfectly ripe fruit entered by the winemaker, using digital cameras. In this way, only the most beautiful grapes come into the grand vin. Beychevelle also started using a new cellar of 20 million euros from the 2016 vintage. This new facility has the advantage, among other things, that the wine can be pumped over with gravity (less stress for the wine) and that vinification by parcels is possible.
