Charmes-Chambertin - Pinot Noir
Met maar liefst 28 hectare beplant met wijnstokken is deze regio de grootste van de negen Grands Crus van Gevrey-Chambertin in de regio Côte de Nuits in Bourgondië. Zoals alle grote wijnen, begint het in de wijngaard, waar de wijnstokken op het oosten op klei- en kalksteenhellingen zijn geplant en de druiven optimaal zonlicht en snelle drainage krijgen. Pinot Noir is hier de enige toegestane druif; ondanks deze beperking staat de regio nog steeds bekend om het produceren van enkele van 's werelds meest gerenommeerde wijnen.
Liefhebbers van Pinot Noir zullen zichzelf verliezen in de aromatische aroma's en smaken van kruiden, rood fruit, wild en munt, die allemaal worden ondersteund door een opvallende structuur. Het terroir van Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru staat bekend om zijn wijnen die de voorkeur geven aan elegantie boven kracht. Door de hoge zuurgraad en tannines moet de wijn minimaal zes tot acht jaar rijpen voordat hij wordt geopend. Als je het geduld hebt, zou tien tot vijftien jaar nog beter zijn.
