The Arrufiac is an old French white grape variety from the southwest of this country. The bunches are large and have small grapes with thick skins. The growth is exuberant, so pruning back is the motto to get the required quality. This species is sensitive to mildew. The grape is harvested late, i.e. late September to early October. This variety is mainly grown in Pacherenc in southwestern France, where it is also regularly used in a blend with the grape varieties Courbu Blanc, Petit Courbu, Petit-Manseng and Gros-Manseng.
What does wine from the Arrufiac grape taste like?
Wines made from Arrufiac grapes often have aromas of exotic fruits and honey, with notes of flowers and spices. They have a full body and a soft texture, with a delicate acidity that provides a pleasant freshness. Due to the high sugar content in the grapes, the wines often have a natural sweetness that is well balanced with the acidity.
