Alonso del Yerro - Russolo
Is there a better wedding present, when two wine geeks get married, than a wine estate? Probably not! This is how the Viñedos Alonso del Yerro was created in 2002 after the marriage of Javier Alonso and Maria del Yerro. From the beginning production was done at the highest level.
As an oenological support, they brought in Stephane Derenoncourt, the renowned Bordeaux wine celebrity, who has already led renowned wine estates such as La Mondotte and Château Canon La Gaffelière to the world top. Completely in the expert's mind, work is carried out with great care. The ripeness of the grapes is checked weekly plot by plot, so that the time for harvesting is optimally chosen. In the manual harvest, small boxes of 12 kilograms are used, so that the grapes arrive in the cellar undamaged. Then the juice is extracted from the grapes by gravity. The fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with a controlled temperature. Malolactic fermentation and further education in new French oak barrels. Concrete also goes without saying. The result are wines, which are among the best and most loved of the DO Ribera del Duero.
Rino Russolo maakt wijnen ten noordoosten van Venetië in de vlakte van Friuli, die Grave wordt genoemd. Rino is de vierde generatie wijnmaker van de familie, die eind 19de eeuw wijn begon met wijnmaken in de Pordenone regio. Tegenwoordig bevindt de cantina zich in San Quirino, midden tussen de cru wijngaarden van Ronco Calaj. De wijngaarden worden aan de noordkant beschut door de uitlopers van de Alpen, terwijl aan de zuidkant de Adriatische zee zorg draagt voor voldoende vocht en een frisse zeebries, vooral in de middag. In deze regio spelen veel wijnmakers op ‘zeker’: ze plukken voor de weersomslag. Bij Russolo worden gelukkig alleen echt rijpe druiven geplukt, zodat de bitters in de wijn binnen de perken blijven en de aromatische expressie veel groter is. De wijnen zijn zeer gewild (tegenwoordig ook in Italië zelf, ondersteund door hoge waarderingen in de Gambero Rosso), zodat maar een beperkte hoeveelheid naar Nederland komt.
