Aalto

Aalto was founded in 1999 by Mariano Garcia and Javier Zaccagnini. Mariano Garcia, can look back on a thirty-year career in the renowned Vega Sicilia, and is widely regarded as Spain's number 1 winemaker. Thanks to him, Vega Sicilia has gained name and fame.

Javier Zaccagnini was president of the "Consejo Regulador" in Ribera del Duero for 6 years. As a result, both have built good contacts and friendships with the prominent owners of exceptional, unique vineyards in the best villages of the Ribera del Duero apellation. These owners are now suppliers of the finest Tinto Fino for Aalto and Aalto PS. Both gentlemen are true perfectionists, nothing is left to fate. Bodegas Aalto has approximately 42 hectares of vineyards of which 32 hectares are planted with blue grape varieties.

The grapes undergo a selection test on the Table de tri. At the slightest bump, the bunch of grapes is completely deposited. Afterwards everything runs according to gravity, so that sudden actions or the pumping of the wine is impossible, because Mariano and Javier designed the winery themselves. After a supply of 30 months exclusively on French oak, the selection is made between Aalto and Aalto PS. Their objective is to vinify a wine that attains the highest quality status within a period of 20 years.
