Valdadige

The Valdadige DOC is located in the northern hills and mountains of Trentino-Alto Adige. The characteristic of these wines is the beautiful acidity, beautiful purity, and aging potential. The small DOC of Valhoudt Terra dei Forte has three distinctive wines: Pinot Grigio, Lambrusco, and the red wine Casetta. Also nowadays more and more Chardonnay is up and coming, as the relatively cool high-lying area provides elegance with Chardonnay.

Valdijde DOC is a kind of interregional wine zone, which includes three provinces in two regions: 30 municipalities in the provinces of Bolzano and Trento, in the Trentino-Alto Adige region, where 45% of the wine is produced, and vineyards in the municipalities of Brentino Belluno, Dolcè and Rivoli Veronese, in the province of Verona, in the Veneto region. Valdadige DOC (or its German name Etschtaler DOC) is named after the River Adige which runs through about 30 municipalities in the valley. The grapes from this zone must be grown in the province of Bolzano.
