Owned by Augustin and Valeria Huneeus. Quintessa is a unique wine with an amazing diversity: five soil types and microclimates ranging from a terrace vineyard to rolling hills to the tranquil lake. This unique composition of terroirs seeks to express the owner in an exceptional wine. Quintessa is one of the iconic wines of Napa Valley in California. This Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated wine is made in Rutherford. Quintessa is made completely organically and biodynamically.

Hidden in the HEART OF RUTHERFORD, Quintessa is located on a 280 hectare site that reflects a diversity of geology, biodiversity, exposure and microclimates. Inspired by this distinctive area, founders Agustin and Valeria Huneeus believed it was destined to become one of the world's largest wine estates. Today, a total of 160 hectares are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Carménère on 26 vineyard blocks. Each block is harvested — organically and biodynamically — and vinified individually to preserve the nuances of the land

Depending on the vintage, Quintessa may include some or all of the five varieties grown on the property: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Carménère. The fruit is harvested early in the morning, then sorted and vinified by gravity in oak, stainless steel or concrete tanks. Once the fermentation and maceration are complete, the wine from each plot is aged separately in French oak for up to two years. After the final Quintessa blend is made, the wine is bottled and stored for another year before being released.
