The wine story of the Devillard family begins with a piece of history. It was in fact the Marquis de Jouennes d'Herville who decided in 1934 — the first in Mercurey — to bottle his bottles on the estate. Since 2005, his grandchildren, Amaury and Aurore, have run Château de Chamirey, supported by their father Bertrand Devillard, the Marquis' son-in-law. The Château de Chamirey, dating from the 18th century, is still inhabited by the Devillards and offers a magnificent view over the Côte Chalonnaise.

The property of Château de Chamirey has now grown to 37 hectares, which fall under AOC Mercurey or Mercurey Premier Cru. A striking proportion of Chardonnay has been planted, more than a quarter of the plantings are white, while AOC Mercurey as a whole mainly produces red.

In addition to Château de Chamirey in Côte Chalonnaise, the Devillards manage several domains in Burgundy and beyond, including Domaine de la Ferté in Givry and the prestigious Domaine des Perdrix in Côte de Nuits. Domaine des Perdrix can safely be called the showpiece of the family with plots in the famous villages such as Gevrey-Chambertin, Nuits-Saint-George and Vosne-Romanée. At the top of the pyramid is their Échezeaux Grand Cru, a grand wine of exceptional complexity. Also special is the Premier Cru Aux Perdrix in Saint-Nuits-George, almost a monopoly, Domaine des Perdrix is 99% owner and makes a wine of this premier cru as the only producer.
