Château Clos Haut-Peyraguey is located on the highest part of the Bommes plateau in the middle of the Sauternes Grands Crus. The exceptional composition of the soil explains the incomparable finesse and bouquet of the wines. Originally, in the 17th century, Clos Haut Peyraguey and Chateau Lafaurie Peyraguey were once part of the same large Sauternes estate.

In 1879, the Duchatel family, who also owned Chateau Lagrange in St Julien, decided to split the large Sauternes estate into two separate vineyards, with the vineyards going at the peak of their heights to Clos Haut Peyraguey. The remaining part became known as Chateau Lafaurie Peyraguey.

In 2012, Bernard Magrez bought this magnificent Sauternes, located at the highest point of "Bommes". With this latest acquisition, he immediately became the sole and unique owner of 4 Grand Cru Classés in the 4 main appellations (the others being: Ch. Pape Clément in the Graves, Ch. La Tour Carnet in the Médoc and Ch. Fombrauge in St. Emilion). He bought the domain from the Pauly family who for many years made a Sauternes of high quality. It is currently Michel Rolland who gives advice, just like in the other properties of Bernard Magrez.
