Description
At Rey Fernando De Castilla two quality lines are used, the "Classic" and the "Antique". This Manzanilla comes from the Classic and looks like a fino because of its straw yellow color due to the 'flor ripening'. Because the vineyards of this palamino are located in a unique zone close to the sea, near the town of Sanlucar de Barrameda, the influence of the sea is reflected in the salty, mineral flavor. The bone-dry sherry is aromatic with hints of seaweed and pickled lemon. Thanks to its fresh acids, it can be used well with spicy tapas such as peppery sardines and black olives, or other (raw) salty fish and spicy shrimp. Drink the wine cold at 8 degrees.

When the world-famous 3-star chef and avid sherry lover Heston Blumenthal was looking for the best sherry for his perfect dish 'sherry trifle', he didn't have to search long. He immediately visited the cellars of bodegas Rey Fernando de Castilla where he was warmly received by director Jan Pettersen from Norway. You can't think of a better reference… Jan Pettersen, one of the largest sherry ambassadors, took over Bodegas Rey Fernando de Castilla in 1999 after working for sherry giant Osborne for 15 years. He quickly turned the bodega, originally founded in 1837, into an absolute top producer of sherry and brandies. Rey Fernando de Castilla is a sherry bodega that makes only prestigious and premium sherry. The wines are not blended (!) And, for example, cold stabilization is omitted. Everything is about preserving the subtle and pure aromas of these distinct wines.
Bodega Rey Fernando de Castilla is located in the historic center of Jerez. In addition to the famous brandies, the most beautiful sherries from the area are made. From the light and elegant finos to the unique 'antique' sherries, they have all won prestigious awards. It has been decided to segment the product line into the 'classic' and the 'antique' line. The 'classic' line includes authentic and exemplary sherries such as fino, amontillado, manzanilla, pedro ximenez and the very high quality cream sherry, while the 'antique' line includes wines from individual soleras (not blended), which are not clarified nor filtered and aged on oak for a very long time. The sherries are bottled in clear glass bottles to show their true color and shade. After all, there is nothing to hide from this bodega.
