The Quinta da Valeira is a port which comes from the region of S. Joao de Pesqueira. This white port from Valeira is a blend of Gouveio (20%), Malvasia Fina (18%), Moscatel Galego (15%), Rabigato (15%), Donzelinho (10%), Viosinho (10%), Códega (10 %). The grapes were completely destemmed and fermented with temperature control up to 22ºC degrees. The wine is carefully filtered before bottling.
In the glass, the Quinta da Valeira White Port has a dark straw yellow color with golden shades. In the nose we smell dried dried fruit, notes of honey, nuts, pear and apple. In the mouth, the tropical fruits are definitely coming back, but the fresh tones are also very pleasant. Drink this port wine chilled at around 8-10 degrees.
SERVING TIP: Try mixing this Valeira White port with 3/4 tonic to 1/4 port, topped off with ice and a sprig of fresh mint. Blessed!!

From Quinta da Valeira, perched high above the eastern end of the Douro River, come vibrant and fresh-tasting wines that express the airy freshness, elegance and beauty of the quinta.
Located between 400 and 500 meters above sea level, Valeira catches every passing breeze, making it cooler than many vineyards in this hot eastern end of the Douro Valley. The slate soil is a winemaker's dream, allowing rain to penetrate deep into the hillside to water the roots of our vines, but retaining the sunny warmth of the day well into the evening to create a more temperate and mellow microclimate to allow our grapes to ripen to perfection.
Quinta da Valeira is a biologically diverse and beautiful landscape, with almost 10 hectares of mature vines on 27 hectares of land. Just over half of the vineyard is planted with Touriga Nacional. Arguably the best of the Port grape varieties, Touriga Nacional is deeply aromatic and complex, with intense flavors that can range from fruity to floral to mineral, depending on the conditions. Of course, there are high tannin levels and good acidity that form the basis for a balanced and long-lived Ports.
The rest of the vineyard is divided into three more classic Port grapes. Touriga Franca brings extra complexity to our wines, with red fruits and exotic floral notes, as well as good acidity. Tinta Francisca adds a vibrant freshness to blends, and Sousão is known for its complex earthy flavors, acidity, and intense color. To complete our range of Ports, we use white grapes and organic red grapes from neighbouring Quinta da Trovisca, which shares the height and fluffiness of Valeira.
