Hennessy VSOP Cognac

With the current Hennessy VSOP, the Master Blender continues the legacy of the original VSOP - a “very superior old pale” cognac specially developed in 1817 for the Prince of Wales, later British King George IV. The target? Creating a complete and harmonious blend; the final expression of a perfectly balanced cognac.

The selected eaux-de-vie all have a powerful, but beautiful round structure and maturing potential. Maturation takes place in different types of barrels. A small part matures in new oak barrels, which gives the final cognac a beautiful mahogany color, a delicate smoky aroma and a nice consistent character. Most of the eaux-de-vie matures in barrels that have contained eaux-de-vie 2 to 4 times before, the influence of the wood is much more subtle and the floral and fruity aromas prevail. Some eaux-de-vie mature in even older casks to add extra elegance, sophistication and subtle yet vibrant spice aromas to the final blend. This complex maturation method results in the freshness, expressiveness and balance of the Hennessy VSOP

Tasting note
Color: Clear and lively mahogany.
Fragrance: Fragrances of spices mix with subtle notes of vanilla and light tobacco. The long maturation in oak barrels gives aromas of toasted wood to the cognac.
Taste: Like the balanced and harmonious nose, the taste is nicely structured and the modest suppleness of the oldest eaux-de-vie balances the vibrancy of the youngest. Subtle notes of brown sugar and dried fruit are complemented by a light touch of spice.
