Juan Gil Family Estates Trilogy

The Honoro Vera Blanco Rueda is a relatively new wine in the Honoro Vera Collection. We carry the already very popular Honoro Vera Garnacha and the wines of honoro Vera (which is part of the Juan Gil Family) excel in price-quality and that is also the case with this delicious Rueda Verdejo. Straw yellow in the glass with an unmistakable Verdejo in the nose. Fresh sour tones, juicy with white fruit, pear and melon in the nose, but also some green tones as befits a Verdejo. In the mouth it is very tasty because it is fruity but also has a very pleasant acidity which makes the wine very balanced.

The Honoro Vera Irreverent Red Blend is a blend of Monastrell –Mourvèdre-, Syrah & Garnacha which has been aged for 4 months in French & American oak barrels. The Syrah vineyard is between 15-20 years old while Monastrell and Garnacha vineyards are between 25-40 years old in goblet or bush vines located in the area known as Término de Arriba at a respectable elevation of 700 and 800 meters above sea level on sandy and calcareous soils. Yields are relatively low with very small and highly concentrated berries and very thick skins to withstand the extreme climate (very cold winters and hot and drier summers). Each variety is fermented separately for 10 days with the skins in stainless steel tanks that do not exceed a temperature of 24 degrees, so the wines get a very nice extraction that takes the best out of the thick skins.

This wine is specially made by Juan Gil (vd Clio and El Nido) for the Spanish market, but we are the only ones allowed to carry it in the Netherlands. A full, round wine made from the monastrell grape with respect for nature. Juan Gil Pedrera Alta needs no further introduction and this is rightly a lot of Value for Money. The Pedrera Alta comes from the area of La Aragona at about seven hundred meters altitude. The vineyard is over 40 years old and is situated on a sandy/loamy plateau with a high percentage of limestone. The Juan Gil Pedrera Alta reveals an exuberant expression of ripe fruit and is wonderfully fresh, fresh and well-structured in the mouth.
