Equipo Navazos Bota de Florpower Antes de la Flor MMXIX Nº 99

After the launch of quite a few non-fortified white wines with different aging styles from the best crus of Sanlúcar, Jerez and Montilla, this exceptional 2019 vintage gives wine lovers the raw essence of "florpower", a pure expression of a vineyard, a grape and a climate two tones. Of a terroir, to put it in one word.

La Bota de Florpower 99 Antes de la Flor (Before the flower) MMXIX is an unfortified white wine made from old, low-yielding vines of Pago Miraflores La Baja. It corresponds in origin to the vintages from 2010 to 2018 that Equipa Navazos has been marketing since the first La Bota. The special feature of this edition no. 99 is that it is not fermented in oak barrel under a veil of flor/yeast. It was kept in a stainless steel tank for only a year protected by yeast which was allowed to settle just before bottling and then the wine was aged for another year in the bottle to get rid of its sharp edges. The result is a wine with a distinct personality that can challenge the best white wines: fine, clean, with excellent juiciness and a firm structure that, with evolution in the bottle, gives the wine a long life although from now on it is also ready to to enjoy.

The color is golden yellow, with nuts and almonds in the taste. Matured, slightly oxidative aftertaste. It is advisable to handle this manzanilla with the care as a great white wine deserves. Because this is an unfortified Palomino (so less than 15%) this is technically not a sherry but a fino blanco. It should be served between 8 and 10 degrees. Delicious as a desert wine (yes, unique with hard cheeses) but also great with shellfish and (unroasted) nuts and of course with Iberico ham . Only 2,400 bottles made
