Balvenie 14 years Caribbean Cask

The Balvenie Caribbean Cask has matured in traditional oak whiskey casks for 14 years and has been finished in casks that previously contained rum. To create this ideal finish, Malt Master David Stewart has made a blend of West Indian rums that are poured into new American oak barrels. In this way, the barrel can absorb the rum flavor. After he has approved the barrels, the rum is replaced with 14-year-old whiskey to let the barrel do its work for the 'finishing touch'. The result is a malt whiskey with the traditional character of the Balvenie, soft and slightly honeyed but now with a warming long fruity finish. Color: dark gold. Nose: rich sweetish aromas, creamy toffee and fresh fruitiness. Taste: round vanilla notes and sweet oak with a development of the fruity rum character. The finish is exceptionally long but soft and fruity.
