2023 Quinta Apolonia Belondrade

From the same maker as the famous Belondrade y Lurton. The Apolonia is assembled using 30% of its big brother the Beldondrade and 70% non-wood-bearing Verdejo. This makes this beautiful Verdejo slightly less woody and buttery and therefore fresher. This is a delicious wine as an aperitif or with fish and shellfish. It has a straw yellow color, floral aroma with fresh fruit and light notes of wood. The character is exotically fresh, as you expect from a Verdejo, with a very nice soft wood tone that gives the wine power. With this wine, just like with the Ossian Quintaluna, they have chosen to let the wine mature longer on its lees (sur lie) and the remainder longer on the wood in order to give (even) more complexity and finesse to the wine. . Due to this upbringing, it can certainly 'plummet' for a number of years and we recommend an ideal drinking window of 2024-2027

Didier Belondrade and Brigitte Lurton started making wine in 1994 in Nava del Rey, in the heart of the Denominación. In this old town there is a labyrinth of abandoned cellars. The size of these cellars suggests how much wine used to be made here. Within the walls of this old town, Belondrade and Lurton have opted for modern wine making.
