Description
This Auxerrois Louwberg is another highlight from the Apostelhoeve vineyard in Maastricht, Limburg. A beautiful Auxerrois and also from Dutch soil! The grape variety (Auxerrois) is originally a white French grape variety, a cross between Pinot Blanc and Heunisch Weiss which, due to its preference for cooler climates, is also successfully grown in Limburg. Where the grape produces this beautiful dry white wine that is very accessible and tastes wonderfully juicy. The Auxerrois is fresh and lively with beautiful fruit notes (apple, pear, citrus, melon) and not too many acids. The scent is also very nice with aromas of flowers, fruit (apple, pear, grapefruit) and a little bit of herbs (mint).
This beautiful Auxerrois goes well with various (smoked) fish, chicken, sushi and crustaceans and shellfish.
Wijngaard Apostelhoeve of the famous winemaker Mathieu Hulst is one of the best-known vineyards in the Netherlands, located south of the city of Maastricht on the Louwberg, in line with the Cannerberg on the west side of the Jekerdal. Currently, this beautiful winery has an area of 6 hectares used for viticulture. The grapes grow on a soil of gravel and marl with a layer of loess on top.

Wijnhuis
Wijngaard Apostelhoeve is one of the most famous and beautiful vineyards in the Netherlands. The winery is located south of the city of Maastricht on the Louwberg, an extension of the Cannerberg on the west side of the Jeker valley.
Wine grapes were grown in the Jeker valley as early as the Middle Ages. Around 1600 the 'Little Ice Age' ended this. Hugo Hulst, fruit grower, decided to build another vineyard at De Apostelhoeve in 1970. As a result, Apostelhoeve has now become the oldest functioning wine company in the Netherlands. Currently, this beautiful winery has an area of 6 hectares that is used for viticulture.
The soil consisting of pebble and marl with a layer of loess on top lends itself perfectly to the grape varieties: pinot gris, riesling, auxerrois and rivaner. Only white wines are made from these grape varieties, which are related in style and production to wines from Alsace and which also have a wonderful fresh, mineral taste.
Wijnhuis Apostelhoeve always works very carefully with all its processes. Take, for example, the harvest of the grapes. This is seen by this wine house as one of the most crucial steps in the winemaking process. The time of harvest is mainly determined by the ripeness of the grape, as measured by sugar, acid and tannin levels with winemakers making their decision to choose according to the wine style they want to produce. The weather can also be the roster of harvesting with the threat of heat, rain, hail and frost that can damage the grapes and cause various vine diseases.
