The Enate Rosé comes from the Somontano region, which is an area in northern Spain. The Enate is made by the hypermodern Bodega Enate. In addition to the brilliant quality, the outfit also stands out. Spain's best contemporary visual artists make the labels.

This rosé is an international topper and has received 3 consecutive Golden Bacchus awards for Best Spanish Rose. The grapes are picked and destemmed by hand, so nothing is left to chance. The Enate Rose is not your average rose and is 100% based on the Cabernet Sauvignon grape. The enate rosé has a powerful but also fruity bouquet with clear notes of blueberries, strawberries and red peppers. The wine is very smooth with a nice, full, well-balanced aftertaste. This is an ideal terrace wine for us, but also perfect with (Asian) rice dishes and tapas.

The enate rose is made for 100% from Cabernet Sauvignon and this provides the dark pink color. The hand-picked bunches are destemmed. The wine is made with the Saignée-Method. The perfectly ripe grapes are soaked on the skins for as long as necessary to obtain the desired rosé color. After a natural settling at 8°C, the young, clean must is fermented in stainless steel tanks at 16°C. Before bottling, the young wine undergoes a cold stabilization treatment at -5°C and a microfiltration to promote aromatic purity.

The vineyards for the Enate rose (rosado) are located at 550-600 meters above sea level, protected by the Pyrenees. The humidity is low, partly due to the drying effect of gentle winds. The soil consists of a mixture of sand and loam, poor and permeable to water. Due to the altitude, the difference in temperature between day and night is very large, 35 ° C during the day, 17-18 ° C at night. This gives the grapes extra complexity, aromatic power and taste. The Cabernet Sauvignon and also the long fermentation at low temperature ensures that this rosé remains wonderfully fresh and full for at least 2-3 years after bottling.

Vineyard for 2022 Enate Rose

Enate is a modern Bodega from Somontano in northern Spain. Enate is located in the village of Salas Bajas, in Somontano, which is located in the northeast of Spain, a good distance from the coast. The leafy landscape can be quite rough, which fully confirms the name Somontano - under the mountains. The local wine growers have had to lobby for a long time to obtain their DO status, but they did manage in the end. Since then, Somontano has been a big name in Spanish wine growing. So enate wines come from a good family. The area where the grape for the Enate wine is grown is characterized by above average rainfall and an abundance of rivers and streams. All that water is good for the soil, which consists largely of clay and sandstone. The nearby Pyrenees give the weather a certain capriciousness. At night it is surprisingly cold, while the sun can scorch in the afternoon. Those 2 extremes give the grapes used for the Enate wine a good balance of acids and sugars.

Despite the relatively young age of this bodega, founded in 1991, it is already one of the most prestigious wineries in Spain. In addition to the quality of the wines, Enate stands out for its sampling. Spanjes' best contemporary visual artists make the labels. ENATE's mission is to make high-quality and premium wines from the best grapes of Somontano, with respect for the ancient local traditions and using the latest technology.

This company with 500 ha of vineyards has a clear philosophy: the Nozaleda family wants to make the best wines from the Denominación Somontano. Oenologist Jesús Artajona translates this philosophy into wine. Bodega Enate concentrates on the international grape varieties Merlot, Cabernet and Chardonnay and the Spanish royal grape Tempranillo. The company makes 85% red wine, 10% white wine and 5% rosé. The vineyards are located at the foot of the Pyrenees at an altitude of 550-600 m above sea level. The climate is Atlantic. This means high temperatures during the day (34-35 ° C) and strong cooling at night (17-18 ° C), ideal for the growth of the grapes.

The establishment of the winery also went its own way: the main building is multifunctional and was designed with the aim of uniting spectacular architecture with the wine world. This gives Enate a lot of attention from mountain hikers and curious wine lovers. The objective of bringing art and wine together is reflected in the labels of the bottles. It shows works of art from the Spanish art avant-garde (Antonio Saura, Eduardo Chillida, Antoni Tàpies and many others). The collection of own labels is exhibited in the winery's own gallery.
