The Clos Mireille is the most scarce version of Domaines Ott and is the rosé that started it all. Both at Domaines Ott and with the advance of the Provence Roses - The Clos Mireille is therefore also seen as the mother of the Provence Roses. Probably the most famous rosé internationally. Named the best producer of rosé in the world by the famous magazine "Decanter". The domain covers 53ha of which only 40 are planted with vineyards. The domain is ideally located on a slate terrace that plunges down to the Mediterranean near Brégançon. The domain dates back to the 18th century and has been owned by the Ott family since 1936. The soil is very old and characterized by a combination of slate and clay. The elongated front of the vineyard has a sea view and this is without doubt the reason for the unique character of the Clos Mireille's. The microclimate and the sea breeze (and misting from the surf of the sea) provide favorable and unique conditions for the production of exceptional wines.
The Clos Mireille rose is a blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Cinsault and 10% Syrah. The grapes are hand-picked and rigorously selected upon entry to the cellars. Then follows a slow fermentation. The wine matures for at least 8 months in oak barrels and that makes it full, somewhat spicy and stylish in taste. Any comparison, with any wine whatsoever, is flawed, Montaigne already knew that.
The wine is light pink in color. In the nose very nice notes of citrus fruits, white fruit and strawberry and hints of licorice. When the wine has been rolled a bit, fragrant white flowers also develop in the nose. In the mouth there is a very good balance between freshness and liveliness and the wine has a firm structure with nuts and a hint of grapefruit bitterness. Can be drunk now but can also be stored for five years without any problems and that makes the Ott wines so unique. This rosé version and the Bandol Coeur de Grain are the scarcity of all rosé versions that Domaine Ott markets. Incredibly refined. The Clos Mireille is also seen as the mother of the Provence Roses and its correct roses, which, given the barrique upbringing, should not be drunk too young and become even more beautiful with a few years.
FACT: The wine is in our conditioned Wine Warehouse and if you come to pick up the wine you will also receive a nice discount. We are almost next to the Rijksweg with plenty of parking space. Click here for address
