The Miraflors Rose consists of Mourvedre, with a smaller part of Grenache. The wine comes from terraced plots along the coast and already aged in concrete is decidedly Provencal in style with juicy, pure strawberry, citrus, orange peel and ample minerality and a medium-bodied, striking profile on the palate. Hard to resist, with fabulous purity. Presented in a beautiful bottle with a glass stopper. This rose has received no less than 90 Parker points.
Voted best summer wine in the Telegraaf
Jean-Marie Lafage is a descendant of a wine-growing family and Oenology was the logical choice of study. During his training he meets Eliane and his love for wine grows into ... a marriage and joint wine experiences on all wine continents (South Africa, California, Chile, Australia). The urge for their own domain takes shape when Jean-Marie takes over the family domain.
The Lafage domain extends over 200 hours, of which 138 hours are planted. Enjoy the spectacular foothills of the Pyrenees among the vineyards. Nestled between “mar i muntanya” this produces beautiful summer wines. The plots are located both at sea level and at an altitude of 400m. Both are exposed to very hot summers, severe winters and have to brave a very poor 'marbro-schisteux' soil. The infamous Tramontane wind provides the necessary cooling. The productivity of the terroir is deliberately kept low (15 to 25 hl/ha). At 400m above sea level, anchored in a schist-marble soil , these plots provide a perfect place to ripen for the Carignan, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Marsanne and Muscat grape.
The glass cork makes it a beautiful water carafe after drinking
On Saturday, May 16, Dagblad De Telegraaf published the results of the election of the best summer wines of 2015. After a strict pre-selection, all participating wines were tasted blind by a very expert tasting panel including Ronald and Sjoerd de Groot (Perswijn), Johan Kragtwijk ( Sommelier of the year, restaurant Karel V), Pieter Nijdam (De Telegraaf) and Marga van Winsen (Rhone Value Wines). The Lafage Miraflors 2014 finished third among the rosés.
