The vineyards are located at an altitude of 350 meters on sheltered terraces. The soil consists mainly of clay and lime. The cuvée is composed of Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah and Rolle. Rolle is the same grape variety as vermentino, known in Italy. 10% of the wine was aged in old wooden barrels to give the wine character and creaminess. The grapes are picked by hand in 35kg crates. The grapes are selected in the chateau and receive a very mild pressing and even for the Miraval Blanc only free-flow juice is used.

The Miraval Provence Rosé is made from organically grown grapes. The wine is a blend of mainly Grenache with a small amount of Cinsault, Syrah and Rolle. The Miraval rosé is a very lively rosé with concentrated flavors. This Miraval Rosé is the best rosé from the estate (the wine is made by the top notch team at Chateau Beaucastel). The light pink colored Côtes de Provence Miraval Rosé has a fresh and lively bouquet of wild strawberries, raspberries and white flowers and gives a supple, silky feeling in the mouth with a fine structure, beautiful mandarin and peach nuances. The aftertaste contains fruity berry nuances. After one sip, the next sip is hard to resist. Absolutely fantastic rosé which has also been rewarded with no less than 90 parking points (2018 vintage).

Now the Provence Rosé Miraval from Pitt and Jolie has been placed at number 84 on the 100 best wines of 2013 by the highly renowned wine magazine Wine Spectator. The jury report describes the wine as 'elegant' with 'pure and concentrated flavors of dried red currant, mandarin and melon'. The names behind this rosé have certainly helped make this the most sought-after rosé, but it is fair to say that this is an absolutely serious class of rosé that belongs to the premier division in the list of Chateau Camparnaud, Domaine Ott , Chateau D'Esclans and Minuty.

The Miraval is a great aperitif but also goes well with lobster, shellfish, white pasta dishes or a delicious salad and is highly recommended with sushi or spicy food. The time is over that you only drink rose in the summer because these types of levels, such as Domaines Ott and Chateau Camparnaud, are serious wines that are perfect all year round and certainly also gastronomically perfect.

Château Miraval belonged to Jacques Loussier, jazz pianist and wine lover, from 1970. He produced the Miraval rosé under the name Pink Floyd. A few years ago, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt rented Château Miraval for a period of three years. The Château was now purchased by the Hollywood couple in 2008. The wine cellar dates from the early 19th century and was renovated in the 1990s; the wooden barrels rest in the cellar of the original farmhouse (around 1300), which was completely renovated in 1995. The vineyards surrounding the Château are located on a slope at an altitude of 350 meters, which makes the Miraval wines so elegant and refined. The rosé is the result of a collaboration between the Hollywood couple and the respected Perrin wine family, one of the largest and most successful wine families in the world. They are especially renowned for their world-class wine estate Château de Beaucastel on the Rhône. This is where art and knowledge come together. And that is exactly what the wines of Jolie-Pitt & Perrin reflect. Together they have big plans for the future in making organic wines.

Angelina Jolie Sells Her Stake in Provence's Château Miraval | Wine Spectator

Château Miraval is the rock star among the vineyards of Provence. That is not only due to the image of the winery, in which the Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt live with their families. "Sting" and "The Cranberries" were already guests in the recording studio in the house. But the highlight is the creation of the song “The Wall” by Pink Floyd at Château Miraval! The Perrin winemaker family, itself a star in the international wine industry, is an important part of this because of its excellent wine. The winemaker Marc Perrin is responsible for the wines at the Château Miraval, while the Jolie-Pitt family provides the necessary prestige.

The climate in which Château Miraval is located is Mediterranean, the grapes grow here at an altitude of 350 meters on protected, landscaped terraces. Warm, sunny weather during the day, alternates with cool nights, giving the grapes a lot of freshness and balance. The terroir is influenced by clay and lime, which provide the plants with water on one side and drains abundant water on the other, thus producing healthy, ripened grapes.

The Château Miraval and the surrounding village of Correns are the first “organic village” in all of France. In the meanwhile world-famous rosé from Château Miraval, a Blend of Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah and Rolle is made. For the creamy content of the Rosé wine from Château Miraval, 10% of the wine is aged in old wooden barrels. A fruity, very convincing taste and concept rosé wine, in which creativity and beauty can come together in a gentle elegance. It is not always successful when a famous person or family commits to a wine, although there are many good examples (just think of Bocelli with his wines), but in the case of Miraval, the wine was already of top quality before Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt bought the domain and luckily they also left the making of the beautiful Miraval Rose and Miraval Blanc to the experts. Both the Miraval rose and the white wine version of the Miraval are among the top of the Provence wines. The problem is that the worldwide demand for the Miraval rose is unprecedentedly large and that wine estate certainly cannot meet the demand, so supply is certainly limited and advice is to store this in time. We had periods with a nice early spring when the Miraval rosé was already sold out in May.
