2022 Bodegas Vetus Alba de Vetus Albarino

Bodegas Vetus has vineyards in the DO Toro but also in the DO Rueda and in the DO Riax Baixas and belongs to the Grupo Artevino. Vetus comes from the Latin word veto - vetare, which means "forbidden, not allowed."

The Alba de Vetus Albariño is a new member of the Vetus family and has seen the light of day with the vintage 2020. The wine is made by the undisputed Albarino specialists: Lalo Antón & Vanessa Pérez. The grapes come from a selection of Albariño plots in the O Rosal area. The vineyard was planted 20 years ago and has a soil with a lot of limestone and graphite and has a north-western location and is around 100-150 meters above sea level, so all the ingredients for a refined elegant albariño style. The grapes are picked and destemmed by hand and the wine has a very civilized alcohol percentage (12.5%) and fantastic acidity (6.7 g/l, Ph 3.4) that gives the typical nice balance between the fruit and the acids and this makes this a fantastic Albariño that can become even more beautiful with a few years of aging

In the glass, this delightful wine has a bright straw yellow color with greenish highlights. On the nose aromas of spices and white fruit followed by intense flavours, balanced by an elegant acidity on the palate. The aftertaste brings balsamic hints that provide a long and pleasant aftertaste. A delicious and beautifully made Albarino, but anyway this is also from Vetus.
