In 1992 Thomas Haag, the son of the celebrated Brauneberg winemaker Wilhelm Haag, took over the Schloss. It was already very good, but Thomas has made it a Champions League domain by working hard. According to the Gault Millau, it belongs to the very best in Germany. And the only domain in Germany to receive the highest award in all guides! The suppleness and drinkability are trademarks of Schloss Lieser, such elegance and above all the temptation to swallow a wine can be found at few other producers. In short, a must have!
There is now a real run on the Grand Crus of Schloss Lieser, dry Moselle in the highest quality spectrum. The Schloss Lieser-Thomas Haag Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling GG 2021 (Groses Gewachs) is yeasty in its early years, but also pure and spicy on the nose, with the tropical mixture of crushed stony notes and perfectly ripe and aromatic aromas of lemon, yellow apple and tropical fruits. It is full-bodied, intense and juicy on the palate, yet pure and refined, with well-structured power and good saltiness. This is a dense Wehhlner Sonnenuhr with seductive and juicy fruit but also finesse and tantalizing purity.
