2021 Weingut Pfaffl Vom Haus Sauvignon Blanc

In 1978, Roman and Adelheid Pfaffl became owners of Weingut Pfaffl at a young age in Stetten, a village just north of Vienna in the Weinviertel - Niederösterreich region. Before 1978, the Pfaffl farm was dominated by the cultivation of grains, potatoes and the rearing of cows and pigs. A lot has changed in a short time. Today, Pfaffl is an international symbol for Grüner Veltliner. They have even been voted European Winery of the Year by Wine Enthusiast.

Niederösterreich is the region around the capital Vienna and is the largest wine-growing region in Austria. Loess soils, warm days and cool nights. This is ideal for getting wines with character. Fruit but also nice acidity. The chardonnay grapes are destemmed and crushed after picking. They undergo a 12 hour peel soak before pressing. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 19 degrees in stainless steel tanks.

The crisp, fruity Sauvignon Blanc is light yellow in the glass with a green tinge. In the nose we smell gooseberries, freshly cut grass and a little citrus fruit. In the mouth, the wine is dusty, elegant and fruity with peach, gooseberry and green, spicy notes again. A delicious glass to enjoy on its own and an excellent accompaniment to white fish in a green herb crust.
