From shallow-lying red slate and very old vines, the Frühlingsplätzchen GG 2021 offers a bright and radiant bouquet with stony and spicy aromas intertwined with notes of crushed slate and lemon zest. Sleek, salty and pure but also luscious on the palate, this is a very precise, crisp and challenging Riesling with extreme mineral (slate) notes. This vintage will have a long life.

VDP (Verband Deutscher Pradikatsweinguter) Grosse Lage is the denominator for the very best German vineyards, which are precisely defined per plot. The VDP is an important organization with about 200 of the best winegrowers in Germany affiliated. The VDP has mapped the quality of vineyards (and their wines) and divided them into Erste Lage and Grosse Lage, similar to the Premier Cru and Grand Cru qualifications in Burgundy. With the VDP classification, the classification revolves around terroir instead of must weight. Unique wines with a special expression of the specific plot, a mature character and great aging potential are born here. Only the very best and grape varieties specific to the vineyard enjoy the privilege of being planted for this. The strictest possible production criteria guarantee the top of the VDP qualification pyramid.

About Schäfer-Fröhlich

The global demand for Schäfer-Fröhlich wines is increasing, as is the quality. Every new year seems like a new milestone for what Tim Fröhlich is capable of. The wines are exceptionally beautiful, perfectly balanced and have fantastic fruit. Schäfer-Fröhlich's success is great. For example, his dry Riesling and Spätlese Riesling were both voted the best in Germany at the 'Königsdisziplinen des deutschen Rieslings' and in the Gault Millau 2013 his Spätleses finished in 1st and 4th place.
Tim Fröhlich is called 'the master of spontaneous fermentation'.
