In our opinion, the TR3 series from San Marzano is the most beautiful line from San Marzano from a price/quality point of view. The TR3 is also known under the label Gran Trio Rosso or the Tre Pumi . The TR3 Pumi Rosso is a blend of Primitivo, Malvasia Nera and Negroamaro that grows in the warm Salento and comes from the oldest vineyards of San Marzano. The best grapes go to the TR3 Rosso and most of the harvest goes after its brothers. The TR3 Pumi Rosso is a very soft wine in which the 3 grape varieties complement each other perfectly. The warmth of the Primitivo with beautiful acidity from the Malavasia Nera and the backbone of the Negroamaro, combined with the healthy vineyards where the old trunks benefit from the fresh wind from the sea that keeps the somewhat 'old' vines in perfect condition. Unlike its brothers, the TR3 Pumi Rosso is aged in wood for at least 6 months, part of which is in 2nd and 3rd year barrels and part in new oak, which gives more power and finesse to this red TR3 Pumi.
In the glass, the TR3 Gran Trio Rosso Pumi has a beautiful dark ruby red color. In the nose we smell black fruit such as blackberry, cherry and blueberry, but after some rolling and oxygen we also smell notes of chocolate, plums, raisins and some sweet herbs. In the mouth the TR3 Rosso is very soft and almost creamy with again the black fruit, but we also taste some vanilla, cocoa and toffee in the throat. The yield from the old vines is very minimal, so this wine is always only available to a very limited extent and Especially because the price is so attractive, the TR3 Pumi (white and red) is one of the top ones from San Marzano, of which they could sell many times more if they had it (which is not the case).

In 1962, 19 winegrowers from San Marzano joined forces to create "Cantine San Marzano". Today, this cooperative has more than 1200 growers and uses modern and technologically advanced installations without compromising the very old wine tradition of Puglia. San Marzano is located in Puglia, in the heart of the acclaimed DOC "Primitivo di Manduria", between two seas (Ionian and Adriatic).
The provinces of Taranto and Brindisi offer a landscape where vineyards and olive trees grow side by side on a red substrate. Caterina Bellanova and Davide Ragusa were born and raised in Puglia: Caterina represents the exquisite touch essential to make iconic wines, Davide is a young and talented winemaker, he studied oenology in Florence and developed his practical skills during several harvests, including in Abroad.
The strength of San Marzano lies in its versatility. However, she does have some hobbyhorses. She is a real star in the Primitivo from Di Manduria. San Marzano is also the right address for the wine drinker who is looking for depth and complexity. How about the San Marzano Collezione Cinquanta. This is a complex red wine that unites all the beauty of Salento, part of Puglia. But the real winner is the Sessantanni Primitivo di Manduria, a real top wine that the whole world has fallen in love with. It was not for nothing that this powerhouse received no less than 98 points from Luca Maroni, who is considered the Italian counterpart of Robert Parker.
