These Riesling grapes were harvested from the Großer Gewächs Philippsbrunnen which is a small plot located between Kreuzberg and Herrgott and was first admitted as Grosse Lage with vintage 2018. Riesling. The Riesling GG Philippsbrunnen opens with an intense, well-concentrated, chalky and lemon-scented bouquet with notes of crushed stones. Vital and refined on the palate, this is a full-bodied but pure and elegant, juicy and enormously salty dry Riesling with fine, chalky grip and lime juice notes on the chalky finish. There is peace here despite all the purity and slenderness of the limestone, almost a hint of mandarin. There is a wonderful hint of ripeness in these sleek, clear, limestones. This is another great Riesling from Philipp Kuhn that is only sold at the annual auction in Bad Kreuznach.
ABOUT PHILIPP KUHN
At the age of 20, PHILIPP KUHN was already solely responsible for winemaking and the vineyards on his parents' estate. He delivered his first vintage with the 1992. As a relatively young winemaker, he can call himself an old hand in the industry after 27 vintages, who has made a good contribution to the success of "Germany's little wine wonder".
PHILIPP KUHN is one of the rising stars of the German wine scene. The richly decorated national and international awards are lined up in a row, so that in the small wine tasting room there is hardly any space left in the display cases and on the walls. 10 x German Red Wine Prize and 4 x German Riesling Prize are proof of one of the most consistent wine qualities in Germany. Philipp Kuhn - the star of the Palatinate. Since the early 1990s, he has been making powerful Pinot wines and fine Rieslings in the Palatinate. At the age of 19, Philipp Kuhn, born in 1972, was thrown into the deep end: Because his father was seriously ill, he had to take over responsibility for the parental company. The passionate winemaker with a distinct sense of tradition then worked his way to the top of Germany over the past 20 years.
He now distinguishes himself not only with his Burgunders and Rieslings, but also makes special wines from international grape varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Sauvignon Blanc and even Viognier. Kuhn applies a strict quality selection, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, leading to low yields of even less than 40 hl/ha. All that matters at Phillipp Kuhn is quality.
