2021 Kruger Family Wines The Forgotten Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc

This 'forgotten vineyard' wine with sauvignon grapes comes from the cooler slopes of the coastal region of the Western Cape. The bottom consists of weathered granite. In contrast to many South African Sauvignon Blancs, this is a fresh style wine with a clear sauvignon expression, where it was raised 'sur lie' for a few months for more filling and structure. The Forgotten Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc has a slightly tropical character and something of boxwood, is very lively, with an attractive saltiness.

Kruger Family Wines winemaker Johan Kruger was named Young South African Winemaker of the Year in 2005 and was awarded 5 stars by top critic John Platter. Johan's passion is chardonnay but has proven his talent over the years in many other varieties and certainly around Pinot Noirs Johan Kruger grew up on a family farm called Sterhuis in Stellenbosch (South Africa) and learned the art of winemaking at Jordan Wines Stellenbosch and abroad in the US and Burgundy - hence the fine passion for vineyard specific terroir driven wines.
