In the 1960s, Giuseppe Inama, the founder of this renowned wine estate, started buying small plots of vineyards in the heart of 'Soave Classico'. The area was originally planted with the ancient "Graecanicum" (originating from Greece) variety. This name was subsequently converted to "Garganega" in the local dialect. His idea was to gather only top quality vineyards of old vine Garganega, and turn them into a wine capable of restoring Soave's reputation. Today Inama counts as a reference for both white and red wines in Soave.

This is the entry-level wine and is the one that they label as "a bit of everyday luxury" at Inama because this is certainly not your average Soave Classico. No far from it!! This is a classic, harmonious, intense tasting wine with good minerality and hints of wild flowers. The wine comes from the Soave Classico denomination and is a 100% Garganega. What makes Inama famous are the volcanic soils on which the vineyards are located and you can taste this. They are located at an altitude of around 150-200 meters and are ecologically managed. After manual picking, once they arrive at the winery, the bunches are destemmed and processed using a "non-reductive" technique, ie without any addition of SO2: the native microflora is therefore able to develop and give character to the must . Maceration on the skins between 1 and 8 hours improves this process and after 24 hours of 'static settling' the must undergoes its alcoholic' fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature of 16-18 ° C. The wine then matures/aged for several months before being bottled.

In the glass, the Inama Soave Classico Vin Soave has a pale yellow color. In the nose we smell delicate aromas of wild flowers: chamomile elderflower and iris. In the mouth, the wine is mineral with a fruity aftertaste of fresh yellow fruit and almonds. The 2020 vintage has received 92/100 points from James Suckling.

ABOUT SOAVE CLASSICO DOC

Soave is a small town in the north of Italy, east of Verona. The small fortified town is one of the most beautiful regions of origin in Italy for white wines. Soave is nestled against the foothills of the Alps with a magnificent view over the Po plain. Made here one of the most beautiful white wines in Italy with great storage potential. The character of a Soave (Classico) is partly determined by the type of soil (terroir) on which the vineyard is planted. For that reason, a distinction is made between Soave DOC and Soave Classico DOC. A small part of the Soave Classico is also bottled as Soave Classico Superiore DOCG. This only applies to wines where the yields in the vineyard are lower and the maturation sur lie has taken longer.

Vineyard for 2021 Inama Soave Classico Vin Soave

Wine house Inama is located near the northern Italian city of Verona. The Inama family has been producing wines for more than 40 years and is the only activity that focuses entirely on them. Wijnhuis Inama is now run by Stefano and Guiseppe Inama, the 3rd generation, with the vision: producing various wines in which, despite the styles and trends of the moment, they mainly want to make wines where their vision of the beautiful country is sufficiently represented. . Therefore, an organic agricultural system is used because it produces better fruit. Wijnhuis Inama follows its own course and has therefore developed its own know-how, without consulting all kinds of experts and wine gurus. They believe in wine that generates emotions and therefore prefer to taste "blind".
