2021 Il Palagio Baci sulla Bocca Bianco

Il Palagio is a wine estate located near the medieval town of Figline Valdarno known as the 'Farm of Florence'. They owe this nickname to the abundance of maize that used to be there. Baci sulla Bocca is the first wine of Il Palagio 1530 which has been accompanied by the famous couple from the juice to the final bottle. The number 1530 is the year Il Palagio started actively producing wine. In addition to the existing range and this top white wine from Il Palagio, there will also be a high-quality rosé called Brand New Day - named after a well-known song by Sting.

For me, life in Il Palagio is like living in a painting. It is one of the favorite places on earth: the atmosphere for Sting and his wife Trudy. The atmosphere you breathe there is magical,” says musician Sting. “We have always kept a lot of our property in Tuscany, also because of what the land has been able to give us,” confesses Trudie Styler, actress, director, producer and entrepreneur, as well as the singer's wife. Years ago when Trudy was looking for a house in Italy, the real estate agents thought she wanted a palace with frescoes on the walls and ceiling. But Trudy is a farmer's daughter and she was looking more for a place where they could set up an ecological farm.

Since last fall, Trudie Styler and Sting have decided to devote themselves even more actively to viticulture and on February 14, 2021, Valentine's Day, Trudie launched the special edition of a new wine she created, together with the famous winemaker Riccardo Cotarella called: Baci sulla Bocca aka Kisses on the mouth. It will be available in limited quantities from the end of March 2021 through the official distributors. Only 4000 bottles were made and therefore only a few hundred bottles for the Netherlands

The Baci sulla Bocca is made for 100% from the Tuscan grape Vermentino. The wine has been aging for a long time at a low temperature and everything sur lie on its yeasts, so beautifully fresh but certainly also very elegant because all the flavors of the noble fresh Vermentino grape (called Rolle in France) emanate from the glass. It has a beautiful fresh light straw yellow color with a green cast in the glass. In the nose delicious aromas of peach and flowers, with a light taste of stone fruit and jasmine. The wine stimulates the senses like a summer kiss.

Fun fact: The label was created by the great photographer Elliott Erwitt, who has long been a neighbor of Sting and Trudy and has given permission to use a famous photo of him from 1955, California Kiss: An Image Reflected in a Car Mirror of two kissing lovers.
