2021 Envinate Benje Tinto

Roberto Santana, Alfonso Torrente, Laura Ramos and José Martínez are the 4 winemakers of Envínate. They had started giving onologic advice but decided to combine it with their own wines in the same areas they also advise. Their philosophy is to create fresh fresh wines from local grapes that reflect the unique terroir and atlantic climate. The results speak for themselves: honest and interesting wines. The red variety Listán Prieto (also known as País, Criolla Chica, Mission) Benje Tinto comes from several vineyards in Santiago del Teide in the south of Tenerife at altitudes ranging between 900 and 1,000 meters. Benje is the name of a nearby crater, where the Listan blanco comes from. Half of the wine was kept in concrete tanks and the rest was put in 228 liter oak barriques for eight months. When you open the bottle you immediately smell some volcanic notes such as flint / gunpowder aromas. This is spicy, wild and full of character, with notes of flowers and blood orange. It has a light to medium body with bright flavours, a wine with lots of light, very fine tannins and a mixture of wild fruits and spices with the volcanic soils. Carafe best in the first 3 years of life. Pour into a Burgundy glass.
