Probably the most famous rosé internationally. Voted by the famous magazine “Decanter” as the best producer of rosé in the world. The domain comprises 53ha of which only 40 are planted with vineyards. The property is ideally located on a slate terrace that plunges down to the Mediterranean Sea near Brégançon. The domain dates back to the 18th century and has been owned by the Ott family since 1936.
Château Romassan is located near the village of Le Castellet. The château is dominated by the picturesque chapel that has watched over the domain in Bandol for almost three centuries. Since 1956, the wines of Château Romassan have benefited from the enthusiasm and obsession for perfect work of the Ott family. People work here without using poison or fertilizer.
The grapes are hand-picked and rigorously selected upon entering the cellars. Then a slow fermentation follows. The wine matures for at least 8 months in oak barrels, which makes it full, somewhat spicy and stylish in taste. Any comparison, with any wine, is flawed, Montaigne already knew that.
The wine is light pink in color. In the nose very nice notes of citrus fruits, as well as very fresh hints of licorice. When the wine has been rolled for a while, fragrant white flowers also develop in the nose. In the mouth there is a very good balance between freshness and liveliness. Can already be drunk but can also be stored for five years without any problems and that makes the Ott wines so unique. This rosé version is the scarcity of all the rosé versions that Domaine Ott brings on the market. Unprecedentedly refined.
