The 2021 vintage was considered EXCELLENT in the Murcia Appellation. It was a wine year with a very rainy winter, which provided water reserves despite a dry spring and a very hot summer. In general, the harvest was early, but the plots, located at an altitude of 600 meters above sea level and oriented to the north, experienced perfect grape ripening. Syrah and Petit Verdot were the first varieties harvested at the end of August. The result was grapes of excellent health, highly concentrated while retaining acidity and exceptional ripeness.

The Syrah comes from a single vineyard called MINAMI, located southwest of the winery. The Petit Verdot comes entirely from a single vineyard called La Cueva del Inglés, located to the east of the winery, both in the La Raja Valley, on the northern slopes of the Sierra de La Pila Regional Park, in the Altiplano of the region Murcia. The Syrah fermented in a 10,000 liter Saury French oak foudre and the Petit Verdot fermented in two 500 liter French oak barrels. Malolactic fermentation then took place in 6 new French oak barrels of 500 liters where it matured for 12 months. The cooperages for these 6 barrels were Adour, Demptos, Rousseau and Saury - very famous (and expensive)

The Tokyo Gomez Rojo Cuvee Minami is a wine with a high concentration in all its aspects. In the glass it has an intense deep purple color. The nose is deep and complex, with a predominance of ripe and even stewed black fruits, accompanied by balsamic and spicy notes reminiscent of the place of origin such as thyme, chamomile and rosemary. In the mouth it develops its full potential, it is a full-bodied wine but with very good acidity that gives it balance and passage but makes the mouth friendly and very persistent. The Tokyo Gomez Rojo Cuvee Minami is the top model from Casa Rojo. Full bodied but fantastically balanced due to the fresh fruit and elegance due to the good acidity. We recommend drinking this wine between 14-16 degrees and then in a large (Burgundy) glass.

ABOUT CASA ROJO

THE MOST IMPORTANT VIRTUE OF A WINE IS BALANCE” LAURA MUÑOZ-ROJO - At Casa Rojo they make wines with which José Luis and Laura feel identified. They have the luck and luxury to be able to produce in the areas where they have their roots and admire with the two grapes they are passionate about: Tinta Fina (Tempranillo) in the continental climate of La Ribera del Duero and the Monastrell in our Mediterranean homeland, Tierra de Murcia. Recently, the unique white grapes from Ribero - Galicia have been added, such as Verdejo, Albariño and Sauvignon Blanc. Casa Rojo's vision is clear. “A wine must be a maximum expression of the soil, the grapes, the local climate.”

Casa Rojo has been active since 2010, so it is a fairly young company, but Casa Rojo wines are now available in more than 40 countries, including the USA, Singapore, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Mexico, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, Sweden, Switzerland, etc and demand exceeds supply. Not surprising because the quality of wines, the stories behind the wine and the selection are downright unique.

"LOVE WHAT YOU DO. DO WHAT YOU LOVE"  JOSÉ LUIS GÓMEZ   -Het maken van geweldige wijnen kost tijd en veel toewijding. “THE MOST IMPORTANT VIRTUE OF A WINE IS BALANCE” LAURA MUÑOZ-ROJO.
