Description
Bolla is one of the oldest Amarone houses and more than 130 years later the Bolla winery has grown into a worldwide famous winery with a wide range of wines. What has remained is the unique taste of the Bolla wines arising from the special climate and terroir of the Veneto area. Oenologist Christian Zulian has been winemaker at Bolla since 2015. Before joining Bolla, he worked for thirteen years at Marchesi Antinori and several years at Domaine Baron de Rothschild.
The name Tufaie comes from the ancient name of the Tufa Quarries that once surrounded Verona. This gold-colored volcanic stone, like the color of this wine, was used to build the most beautiful churches and the 'Teatro Romano'. In the glass, this Sur Lie and wood-matured Soave is golden yellow with the nose showing notes of citrus, melon, grapefruit, pear, hints of herbs and honey. On the palate, this full bodied Soave has beautiful aromas of acacia flowers, ripe white fruit and dried almonds. The taste is intense and soft. Full of a fantastic structure and an intensely long aftertaste. This Tufaie Soava is a perfect accompaniment to risotto, veal, or freshwater fish.
“Different from other Soaves. Tufaie is in a class of its own. For those who like it: raised on wood. Long-term storage 'sur lies'. This makes it richer, more complex and fuller. Marzipan fruit: peach, mango and banana. Something coconut. Sufficiently fresh. Velvet freshness. Forms a classic combination with a returning classic from the Wina Born era: trout with almonds” , Harold Hamersma in DGH 2018, rated 8.5.
“Admittedly: the other Soaves from Bolla that I tasted are also excellent. Otherwise. They are a bit harder on their acids. Tufaie is in a class of its own. Complex, but accommodating. Adapts to your mood like a chameleon. Know exactly when you need creaminess or silky acidity. Rich, studied yellow fruit. Beautiful”, Harold Hamersma in DGH 2017, rated with an 8.5.
“The best possible introduction to Bolla is the Tufaie, a Soave Superiore that was partly barrel-aged and composed of 85% Garganega, supplemented by Trebbiano di Soave. The still youthful-looking wine, bottled in a heavy bottle, tastes pleasant, fresh and very juicy with a slightly nutty and at the same time mildly fruity aroma of peach and pear and will form a wonderful partnership with freshwater fish, for example” Hubrecht Duijker

Wijnhuis
The story of the Bolla winery starts with one man, Abele Bolla. He lives in the north of Italy, in the Veneto region, where he runs a small family inn. In order to offer his guests more than just a stay, he decided in 1893 to produce a wine that he could serve to his guests. This Soave is a light yellow, fresh, aromatic wine, which reflects the essence of the Veneto area. The demand for this wine grows as more and more people taste its wine. As a result, the family decided to fully focus on wine production. More than 130 years later, the Bolla winery has grown into a world-renowned winery with a wide range of wines. What has remained is the unique taste of the Bolla wines resulting from the special climate and terroir of the Veneto area.
Oenologist Christian Zulian has been a winemaker at Bolla since 2015. Before joining Bolla he worked for Marchesi Antinori for thirteen years and at Domaine Baron de Rothschild for several years.
