2021 Bolla Soave Classico Rétro DOC
Bolla is one of the oldest Amarone houses and more than 130 years later, the winery Bolla has grown into a world-renowned winery with a wide range of wines. What has remained is the unique taste of the Bolla wines arising from the special climate and terroir of the Veneto area. Oenologist Christian Zulian has been a winemaker at Bolla since 2015. Before joining Bolla, he spent thirteen years at Marchesi Antinori and several years at Domaine Baron de Rothschild.
The Retro Soave has had a Sur Lie upbringing so has matured on its lees/yeasts. In the glass, this Bolla Soave is light-yellow with a delicate perfume in the nose, intense, fresh, floral, exotic fruit, honey or typically a soave. The Soave has a soft taste, harmonious, full and elegant. This is a wine with an excellent price/quality ratio and delicious as an aperitif, with white meat and risotto.
“Mild, soft yellow fruit, slightly almonds and pleasant refreshing acidity”.
Harold Hamersma in De Grote Hamersma 2018, assessed with a 7.5.
“An excellent choice with the crab is also the Bolla Rétro Soave Classico, a wine presented with a nostalgic label, made from only the regional gargane grape. In addition to juicy acids, you also taste fruit, a combination of white and citrus, very tasty" Hubrecht Duijker
The story of the Bolla winery starts with one man, Abele Bolla. He lives in the north of Italy, in the Veneto region, where he runs a small family inn. In order to offer his guests more than just a stay, he decided in 1893 to produce a wine that he could serve to his guests. This Soave is a light yellow, fresh, aromatic wine, which reflects the essence of the Veneto area. The demand for this wine grows as more and more people taste its wine. As a result, the family decided to fully focus on wine production. More than 130 years later, the Bolla winery has grown into a world-renowned winery with a wide range of wines. What has remained is the unique taste of the Bolla wines resulting from the special climate and terroir of the Veneto area.
