Bolla is one of the oldest Amarone houses and more than 130 years later, the winery Bolla has grown into a world-renowned winery with a wide range of wines. What has remained is the unique taste of the Bolla wines arising from the special climate and terroir of the Veneto area. Oenologist Christian Zulian has been a winemaker at Bolla since 2015. Before joining Bolla, he spent thirteen years at Marchesi Antinori and several years at Domaine Baron de Rothschild.
After the harvest, the Pinot Grigio (Pinot Gris) is destemmed and the grapes are crushed and delicately pressed. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks where the temperature does not exceed 16 degrees. The Retro Pinot Grigio has had a Sur Lie upbringing, so it has matured on its lees/yeasts.
The Bolla Pinot Grigio Rétro Valschijne is pale yellow in color with aromas of peach, citrus and white flowers. Returning notes of peach on the palate with a light body and soft finish.
“Bolla. superpower. Fortunately, in the case of this Pinot Grigio, quality has not been compromised. Nice and spicy Pinot Grigio. Peppery pear, tingling melon, bright citrus, fine bitters and lots of juice”,
Harold Hamersma, rated with an 8+ in DGH 2018.
