2020 Vitícola Mentridana Cantos del Diablo
Daniel Landi is today one of Spain's pioneers of the new generation of oenologists. Thanks to him, Spanish Grenache has taken on a new definition: that of finesse and elegance. Daniel works with the utmost respect for the terroir and its environment. All plots are worked in biodynamics. His wines are a model of purity and lightness. For lovers of great Burgundy. The famous top wine from Jimenez / Daniel Landi - 100% Grenache produced in an organic way, raised on French oak. 2011 is the first year that winemaker Daniel Landi makes this wine under his own name after having led the Jimenez Landi family domain for 8 years. Daniel Landi is also co-owner of the rising star Comando G. Vitícola Mentridana is the successor of Dani Landi Viticultor. Dani is from Méntrida and went through the same trajectory as his childhood friend Curro. They studied oenology and went to work in small family bodegas. In the end, they each created their own project. For Dani it was Comando G and for Curro it was Fedellos. And now their paths converge again : Dani decided to place all his vineyards from the Méntrida appellation in a separate bodega : Vitícola Mentridana. And Curro is in charge of the daily management and makes the wines, always with the help of Dani.
The Cantos del Diablo is a flawless Garnacha from one plot located on a slope at an altitude of 860 meters is one of the most beautiful Diablos made by Daniel Landi - widely regarded as the specialist and innovator of the Grenache / Garnacha. The grapes of the Diablo are literally selected piece by piece and only the best fruit is allowed in this great version. The Cantos del Diablo is very intense and aromatic with notes of Mediterranean herbs (rosemary), flowers, balsamic, forest fruits. The palate has incredible tension and a subtle granite minerality with a texture that feels more like limestone than granite. It dries your mouth and is very saliva-inducing. This is really fantastic but the world has to make do with only a few hundred bottles of which we were able to get our hands on some
