2020 Viña Casa Marín Cartagena Pinot Noir

Viña Casa Marín was founded in 2000 by winemaker Maria Luz Marín, who had one thing in mind: to make 'terroir wines' in Chile. Her project was innovative and daring, but now she is loved and praised and an example for many others in Chile! María Luz is the first female winemaker and winery in Chile. After graduating from the University of Chile with a degree in agronomy and winemaking, Maria Luz worked in several wineries, not least having worked for Romanee Contie. She has successfully positioned her fine delicate wines in the top markets and among international critics, where they stand out for their high quality. Currently, Vina Casa Marin belongs to the top of Chile and is an example of beautiful elegant cool-climate wines.

This Cartagena from the San Antoine Valley is a cool-climate Pinot Noir and so is much more like the old world pinot noirs from Burgundy. The aging takes place in used barrels of French oak. A wood tone is therefore hardly emitted. In the glass the wine is very fresh and light red and in the nose we smell a lot of fruit: strawberries, red currants and rhubarb. On the palate we find ripe red fruit, sweetish tannins and a lively freshness; the aftertaste is spicy. Decanter 92/100
