2020 Teso la Monja Alabaster Magnum

This Spanish top wine is produced by winery Teso La Monja, an exclusive winery, one of the beautiful wineries of Hermanos Eguren .

The Alabaster is now the full successor to the Termanthia (The Numanthia and Termanthia vineyard was sold by the EGUREN family in 2007 to Luis Vutton, Hennesy Moet & Chandon - LVMH and started a new project in the same year: Bodegas Teso la Monja). The EGUREN family consistently continues its tradition of care and quality. The grapes are picked exclusively by hand and collected in small boxes to avoid damage. The yield is only 9hl/ha, so extremely low. The wine matures for 18 months in new French oak. Exclusively harvested from vines with an average age of 100 years from the pre-phylloxera period, so still original vines / non-grafted vines (self-rooted Vitis vinifera). The Alabster is a full aromatic wine. Plums, black currants, cherries, minerals, a hint of mocha and beautiful tannins and a grand finale. This wine has enormous potential. The wine is packaged in a very nice fabric cover and a maximum of 4000 bottles are made and then only in the top years. Unique magnum version of 1.5 liters packed in a beautiful gift box.

They achieved even lower yields in 2020 than in 2019, and the centennial vines used for the 2020 Alabaster produced just 11 hectoliters per hectare. Only 4,000 bottles were produced. It was bottled in May 2022. The wine was only released at the end of October 2022.
